Learn, Play & Fun
Learn, Play & Fun
Start with the basics. Build a love for the game. New players learn ball control, coordination, basic strokes and grips in a fun, engaging environment. As they progress, they’ll start rallying, learn how scoring works and take their first steps into match play.
Develop & Improve
Develop & Improve
Build technique. Play with more confidence. Players develop their forehand, backhand, serve and net play while learning techniques such as topspin and slice. They’ll start combining different shots, building longer rallies and thinking about how and when to use each stroke.
Competition & Training
Competition & Training
Take their game further. For players with the skills and ambition to progress, this pathway focuses on sharpening technique, improving physical performance and developing a positive mindset. Players learn to think tactically and put their skills into practice through matches, tournaments and leagues.

A tennis pathway that grows with them

Our Tennis Academy gives young players a clear path from picking up a racquet for the first time to playing competitive tennis. As their skills and confidence grow, they can move through three stages designed to keep them learning, playing and enjoying the game.

TENNIS ACADEMY LEVELS

LEVEL 1 - STARTER TO THE GAME

A starter is new to the sport of tennis and is keen to learn. She/He understands the backhand and forehand groundstrokes with a soft ball often hand fed. She/He also understands the correct basic grips for ease of future technique.

LEVEL 2 - PROGRESSIVE LEARNER

She/He understands the forehand & backhand and can begin to count rally strokes with accurate feeding. She/He understands high & low-ball flight characteristics over the net to learn the difference between a short and deep ball as well as learning the basic point scoring system.

LEVEL 3 - IMPROVER/IMPROVED

She/He uses knowledge of the different techniques in a rally using top spin & slice. She/He starts to be able to combine groundstrokes with an approach shot, volley & smash.

LEVEL 4 - INTERMEDIATE

She/He is confident of groundstroke, volley, smash & serve technique and able to combine these strokes in basic singles match play against comparable standard opponents. She/He starts to think ‘tactically’ as to what type of game the player is suited to. LEVEL 5 - ADVANCED She/He shows real keenness to improve & learn technically, physically & tactically. She/He can challenge suitable opponents to matches.
